LSBME conducts a background check of applicants through the state "Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections (DOC)" and the "Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)" as part of the application process as required by state law.
All applicants must submit their fingerprints to the Identogo company, either digitally or through fingerprint cards. All applicants must sign a release for this process, which can be accessed by clicking on the link below entitled, “Privacy Act Documents.” US residents from Louisiana and out of state should follow the appropriate instructions below, as should International applicants. All applicants will need to register themselves in the Identogo system, whether they are using the “Livescan” digital technology or submitting a fingerprint card through Cardscan and mailing the cards to Identogo in Tennessee.
Note: If you are a physician with a current LSBME training permit, you do not need to do another background check when applying for full licensure.
